Few regions in the wine world bring out such passion in wine lovers as Burgundy. World famous vineyards such as Montrachet, Romanée-Conti, Musigny & Chambertin produce the finest examples of Chardonnay & Pinot Noir against which all others in the world are judged.

 

I have been travelling to Burgundy for many years and it is by far the region I am most passionate about. Join me for an evening of in-depth explanations as to why these iconic wines are so special and why they taste so special.

 

‘Grand Crus of the Côte dOr’ will feature a Billecart-Salmon Champagne apéro, 2 Grand Cru white & 8 Grand Cru red wines including vineyards such as Bâtard-Montrachet, Grands-Echézeaux and Chambertin.

I forget the name of the place; I forget the name of the girl; but the wine was Chambertin” – Hilaire Belloc (1870-1953)

 

Gevrey-Chambertin in the famous Côte de Nuits area of Burgundy has for centuries been home to some of the most prestigious vineyards in all Burgundy. When Napoleon Bonaparte marched his armies through Gevrey he made them salute the Chambertin Grand Cru vineyard, his own personal favourite. From the superstar Grand Cru duo of Chambertin & Clos de Bèze, to the comforts of great village wines join me at the Smith & Smith Taste Academy for a seminar exploring the commune that for many people is the leading commune of Burgundy.
